Alcoholism not Wasism

I am an alcoholic. I'll call myself Clayton. Anonymity is the foundation of recovery. I drank because times were good. I drank because times were bad. Reasons for me to drink: It's Friday, Saturday, it's raining, it's snowing. To be "social" with the crowd. To get totally wasted falling down drunken to the point of not knowing the time or day or even what month it was.

I went to a bar (Taylor's?) in Anacostia, S.E. Washington, DC, down by the waterfront of the Potomac river was a "dive" were bikers would hang out. My initiation into this "Club" (wink), was to get down and drink beer off the floor that was just poured. (what the heck? it was free!).
fortunately, joining gangs back then in 1971 didn't involve shooting anyone. My life with the gang was short lived. They didn't drink like I did. They "controlled" their booze, I didn't.

This is my first of about 40-50 stories I will post. I will share more in a day or two.
